A long but sweet listing of upcoming ventures, and a recapping of recently completed ones.
I am delighted to share I am now selling Lady Dame Prints products (aka: stickers, cards, and prints) at the Columbia Museum of Art’s Gift Shop! The CMA’s gift shop supports local artists, and you can find a variety of things made right here in Columbia. If you find yourself in Cola, and looking for a weekend adventure, I highly recommend you stop in to see the newly renovated museum. The modern art gallery is stunning!
I am the February Art Uncorked artist at SakiTumi. I will have a wide selection of works on display (and for sale) through mid-March. The opening is February 21st 6-8PM. Please stop by and say hello!
Additionally, on March 7th I will be at Pelliclaude for Blue Note Poetry night. There will be live poetry, and a pop-up with some of Pellicluade’s artisans – like moi!
I am very excited for the upcoming Collage Garden in Denver, CO. It will be an international multi-artist collage! Collage artists are invited to make small works within the theme of gardens (think plants, animals, insects, etc.). Artists make collages without backings, mail them to the host gallery, and the host gallery assembles them on a wall or fixture outside for all to enjoy for a limited time. The Collage Garden in Denver will be unveiled at the end of March.
I had a very special opportunity back before the holidays to illustrate Christopher Newport University’s holiday party invites. As an alumna, this was incredibly special, and was a great opportunity to sharpen my illustration skills. They took the designs and also created napkins and ornaments. The originals live at the Alumni House and will be displayed each holiday season!
I continue to take to YouTube for art inspiration. While I have been enjoying some documentaries and technique videos, I also came across
Caro Arevalo who makes really nice videos about her studio and art practice. Her studio in New York is full of light, plants, books, and a sweet kitty!
“There’s no diploma in the world that declares you as an artist. It’s not like becoming a doctor or something. You can declare yourself an artist and then figure out how to be an artist.” – Kara Walker
